How it Works Summary:

  • The simpleSwitch240 CT will measure the power load on the whole panel. It will turn off the simpleSwitch 240 CT connected to an appliance/device if the whole panel load exceeds the 80% threshold (i.e. shed power load connected to an appliance).
  • In this application, the simpleSwitch240 CT external Current Transformers (CTs) are connected to the main service line input wires inside the electrical panel. This is to monitor if power drawn on the whole panel exceeds thresholds.
  • The simpleSwitch 240CT will measure the power load on the whole panel using external clamp style current transformers (CTs). When whole panel load exceeds 80% threshold simpleSwitch 240CT will temporarily switch off the power load of the appliance/device connected to the simpleSwitch240 CT (“Shed the Power”).

Device Functionality:

  1. simpleSwitch 240CT works by constantly measuring the power load, created from electrical devices’ energy consumption, on the whole panel (or subpanel) using external current transformers (CTs).
  2. When electrical load exceeds a set threshold of 80%, simpleSwitch 240CT will switch off the power load of the appliance/device connected to the simpleSwitch 240CT (“Shed the Power”).
  3. Power is restored to the appliance/device connected to the simpleSwitch 240CT after power load remains under set threshold values for 15 minutes.
